Born in the UK, raised in Australia by Irish parents, I have all three passports. My life has revolved around travelling since graduating from uni in the '90s.

In London, I freelanced for The Times, The Independent, and The Guardian. Back in Sydney, I wrote 'The Solo Traveller' page in Escape and 'The Cruise Tourist' in The Australian. For a decade, I was managing editor of Tripadvisor's Cruise Critic and editor of Travel Daily's Cruise Weekly. 

These days, you might find my features in the weekend papers or luxury magazines. I have a weekly column in Explore, which is published in 28 newspapers and 85 websites.

I spend most of the year at sea, on rivers, or remote expeditions. In between, I stay at hotels and, occasionally, my own home. I've also lived in New York, Portland, Taipei, Darwin and Fremantle.
